Brownfields Cleanup Grant Application Public Meeting

The Portland Housing Authority (PHA) will hold a public meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 using video conferencing. A link to the meeting will be posted on the PHA website (http://www.porthouse.org), no later than noon on October 29, 2024.  

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a U.S. EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant application being submitted for a parcel of land located at 70 E Oxford Street in Portland, Maine.  PHA will explain the Brownfields program and the proposed cleanup strategy, and will hear public comments, questions, and/or concerns related to the project. Grant funds are proposed to be used to remediate and manage contaminated soils to support future residential development at the Site.

A copy of the draft funding application and draft Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) report is available for public review, and the public comment period will run from October 24, 2024 until Friday, November 8, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. If you would like to request a copy of the draft funding application and draft Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) report, please contact Jay Waterman, Director of Real Estate Development, via email at jwaterman@porthouse.org.
