In October, volunteers from the University of Southern Maine Honors Student Organization and Nursing Program spent two days in Sagamore village cleaning the community garden beds and preparing them for winter.
1,200 square feet of raised garden beds are available to low-income residents in the Sagamore Village community. Seeds and seedlings are provided at no cost to residents by PHA and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Residents can sign up for garden plots in the spring by contacting the manager's office. Volunteers maintain a couple of beds for the community food pantry during the growing season.
