1. What are the Study Centers?

The Study Centers are drop-in support centers with an academic focus. Each Study Center has computers, WiFi internet access, a printer/scanner/copier, books, and general classroom supplies. AmeriCorps members and staff provide academic support and conection to resources to help residents of all ages succeed.

2. Who can attend?

Anyone! The centers are open for youth and adults, living in or around our neighborhoods. We ask that attendees and their guardians provide a signed permission slip so we have general information like who to contact in an emergency.

3. What resources do they have?

Each Study Center has computers, WiFi internet access, a printer/scanner/copier, books for all reading levels, and plenty of supplies to support academic and artistic achievement!

4. Where are they located?

The Study Centers are located in our Four family housing neighborhoods:
Riverton Park - 61 Riverton Drive
Sagamore Village - 34 Popham Street
Kennedy Park/Bayside - 51 Mayo Street
Front Street - 34 West Presumpscot Street

5. When are they open?

The centers are open following the Portland Public Schools District Calendar. Centers are typically open for a few hours in the morning for adult support and afternoons for youth. The centers occasionally close for trainings or special events. Visit or call your nearest Study Center to get updates on their schedule. You can also find the study centers on Instagram for day to day updates and activities. 

6. How do I volunteer?

Volunteers serving with the study centers typically visit for two hours each week for a minimum of 6 weeks to provide academic support and enrichment to youth.

There are many items that we need on a regular basis. Material goods can be dropped off during business hours at the PHA main office at 14 Baxter Boulevard. More information about what our current supply needs are as well as information about tax receipts can be found here:
